Conference Recap- 2017 CAMRT-OAMRS AGC

Another year has come and gone… from social gatherings to all the fantastic educational sessions this year has proven yet again to be one for the books. The 2017 CAMRT-OAMRS Annual general Conference (AGC) ran from April 27th to the 30th in Ottawa, Ontario.

Thursday April 27th

It started off on a crisp Thursday morning and transitioned into a beautiful warm sunny afternoon in Canada’s capital. CAMRT and OAMRS members started to flood into the Westin Hotel, bright eyed and bushy tailed ready to start the AGC and eager to learn something new within their professions and catch up and socialize with old and new friends.

The day was filled with an array of workshops, and capped by the OAMRS AGM. A Welcome Reception was held at 6:00PM in the exhibit hall, and was filled with vendors showing off amazing displays. You could feel the buzz in the air as everyone got together. CAMRT President, Karren Fader and OAMRS Chair of the Board, Robert Mahon kicked off the AGC with the official welcome to all attendees. Eager to keep the socializing going, members marched on towards the Heart & Crown in the Byward market for the annual CAMRT Foundation Pub Night.

Saturday morning started off with the annual Roentgen Ramble run/walk at 7:00AM. What followed was a day filled to the brim with lectures across an exciting educational program. There were talks on varied topics like mobile imaging to human factors in radiotherapy, digital breast tomosynthesis, and many more.

The day then eased into the CAMRT Celebration of Excellence Reception where the annual awards ceremony took place. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails were given out as Roentgen made the rounds. The annual CAMRT Foundation raffle took place at the same time (and into the night) with fantastic prizes   to be had for all. After the awards, the participants moved into the grand hall for the Presidents’ dinner where great food and laughs were shared all evening, not to mention an absolutely hypnotizing performance from CAMRT member Joyce Warren.
