Governance

The CAMRT is a non-profit organization required by law to be governed by a Board of Directors, elected by eligible members of the association. The board goes beyond a legal requirement, however. It provides a vital link that connects the organization to the larger community. Board members are stewards on behalf of the membership. Their skills, connections, influence, leadership and willingness to give of personal time are essential to the CAMRT.

The functions of the board can be divided into six main categories:

  1. Formulation of Policy
  2. Strategy
  3. Decision Making
  4. Delegation
  5. Monitoring
  6. Accountability

The responsibilities of the CAMRT Board of Directors are primarily set out in the CAMRT Bylaws.

The work of the board is supported by numerous committees whose activities advance the strategic objectives of the CAMRT, and by a professional staff led by the Chief Executive Office of the Association.
