Refund Policy
Refund Policy
CAMRT dues are non-refundable, except in the case of approved leave of absence or retirement. (Current exception in place for COVID-19 layoffs – see below.)
Leave of Absence
Active members wishing to suspend their membership during a leave of absence (such as sick leave, maternity, paternity or parental leave) have two options:
- Change your membership category to Non-Practicing ($97/year) and continue receiving member benefits (except PLI); or
- Cancel your membership and not be a member of the CAMRT for the duration of your leave
Members are required to contact the CAMRT office at membership@camrt.ca within one (1) month after the last day worked and provide: their name, the last date worked, the reason for the leave of absence, and state whether they wish to cancel their membership or switch to Non-Practicing. Members contacting the office more than 30 days after the last date worked may still be eligible for a refund, but only from the date of notification.
Members who choose to change their membership to Non-Practicing during their leave of absence will continue to have access to all member benefits except for Professional Liability Insurance**, which is not included in Non-Practicing memberships. Members will be refunded the difference in price between their unused Full Practice CAMRT membership and that of a pro-rated Non-Practicing membership (see pricing above).
Members choosing to cancel their membership will not be eligible for member benefits or discounts (such as discounts on CPD or event registrations, or member discount programs such as Telus, GoodLife Fitness, or Johnson insurance) for the duration of their leave. Members will be refunded the unused portion of their CAMRT dues.
Retirement
Active members who are retiring have two options:
- Change your membership category to Senior Membership ($36/year) and continue receiving member benefits (except PLI) and communication from CAMRT; or
- Cancel your membership and no longer be a member of the CAMRT
Members are required to contact the CAMRT office at membership@camrt.ca within one (1) month after the last day worked and provide: their name, the last date worked, the reason for cancellation, and state whether they wish to cancel their membership or change their membership to Senior Membership. Members contacting the office more than 30 days after the last date worked may still be eligible for a refund, but only from the date of notification.
Members choosing to change to Senior Membership will continue to have access to all member benefits except for Professional Liability Insurance**. Members will be refunded the difference in price between their unused Full Practice CAMRT membership and that of a Senior Membership.
Members choosing to cancel their membership will no longer be members and will not be eligible for member benefits. Members will be refunded the unused portion of their CAMRT dues.
COVID-19 Layoffs
CAMRT has modified the refund policy to include members affected by layoffs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If a member has been laid off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and they are not working, and don’t expect to be working in the coming months, they can request a refund of the unused portion of their CAMRT dues for the year 2020. Please note that the one-time Professional Liability Insurance fee is non-refundable.
Please note, if you are actively seeking employment or think you may work even one shift in the coming months (through new employment, or casual or temporary placements, you should keep your Full-Practice membership to ensure you have the protection of Personal Professional Liability Insurance.
Please contact membership@camrt.ca to request a refund within one (1) month after the last day worked. Members contacting the office more than 30 days after the last date worked may still be eligible for a refund, but only from the date of notification. Should you return to work later in the year, you can reinstate your membership at the pro-rated price.
Processing Time
Refunds will be processed within 3 weeks of the last date worked, or the date the notification was provided to the office, whichever occurred last.
**It is important to note that Non-Practicing and Senior Memberships do not include Professional Liability Insurance (PLI). If you are planning to work, even casually, during your leave of absence or retirement, you should maintain Full-Practice membership, which includes the protection of PLI.
*Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) is optional for members who are full practice qualified, licensed in the Province of Quebec and have PLI through l’Ordre des technologues en imagerie médicale, en radio-oncologie, et en électrophysiologie médicale du Québec (OTIMROEPMQ).
