Journal Updates – April 2021

MRS Narratives format now open for submissions!

The format is for anyone with something to share related to any aspect of medical imaging and radiation therapy, including patients, families, health care leaders, policy makers, and MRTs. Submissions are not restricted to any particular format—we are open to personal stories, poems, photographic essays, or any other method that can communicate your narrative. We hope that this new format will attract submissions from diverse voices, from authors who are Black, Indigenous or People of Colour; from patients; or from our own readership whose submissions may not fit into the traditional model of research dissemination. Author instructions are at https://www.jmirs.org/content/authorinfo, including a “Steps to Submit” document for new authors, and links to published examples.

Calls for Papers

2021: The JMIRS is preparing a special issue on the topic of Education in the medical imaging and radiation sciences, to be published in December 2021. We know there is so much activity happening in this area and we are excited to hear from you! Submissions are due on or before May 1, 2021 but informal contact about ideas can be discussed with the editor at any time at editor@camrt.ca. We are pleased to announce that Ernest Ekpo will serve as Guest Editor for our upcoming special issue on Education. Ernest recently joined the JMIRS as an Associate Editor and serves as Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, Australia.

2022: We are pleased to announce two calls in 2022!

Palliative Care content deadline November 1, 2021

Palliative care can provide relief from pain and other symptoms of a serious, long-term or life-threatening illness. Symptoms can be physical, psychological, social or spiritual. We are seeking submissions in any of our formats, related to your research, practice, policy, theory or narratives in this crucial topic.

“Leadership” content deadline May 1, 2022

Leadership has never been tested more than in 2020/2021. Across the radiation sciences leaders are guiding teams through perhaps the greatest challenges of their careers. All of us can lead from where we stand, regardless of our role, and we’d like to hear your insights about the dilemmas, ambiguities and complexities of leadership in our profession.
