April 26 Update on the Global Supply Situation for MO-99

Dear CAMRT Members,

This is an update, provided through our partners in the Canadian government, on the global supply situation of medical isotopes.

The AIPES Emergency Response Team (ERT) has sent an update on NTP, the South African reactor, regarding its Mo99 production activities.

  • NTP has received approval  from the South African Nuclear Regulator to return to normal operations through the end of June 2018.
  • NTP will continue to engage with its Regulator to ensure continued normal operation from July 2018 onwards.

The Emergency Response Team considers this update to be its final one concerning the NTP supply situation.

Many thanks to the ERT members, the MSWG members, and the Canadian nuclear medicine community for their continuous attention to managing the medical isotope supply situation since mid-November 2017.
