The CAMRT understands the impact this virus will have on MRTs as front-line healthcare workers. And in a fast-developing situation, such as this one, it is important to know where to turn for healthcare information. At CAMRT, we are monitoring information given by reputable, fact-based agencies around the world, and will work to share the latest updates and most relevant links for MRTs.

About the novel coronavirus

On December 31, 2019, the World Health Organization was alerted to several cases of pneumonia in Wuhan, China. The virus did not match any other known virus. On January 7, 2020, China confirmed COVID-19. Since then, COVID-19 has been reported in multiple countries, including Canada. On Thursday, January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 to be a public health emergency of international concern. On March 11, 2020 the outbreak was characterized as a pandemic.

Symptoms of COVID-19 infection can range from mild to severe. They can include fever and cough, difficulty breathing, pneumonia and kidney failure. In severe cases, infection can be fatal.
