The JMIRS special editions are a collection of papers on special interest and topical areas curated by Guest Editors. We aim to engage a community of authors and readers to help highlight the latest research and develop new ideas and research directions. Submissions should be sent online through the Editorial Manager platform, but informal contact about ideas can be discussed with the editor at any time. Children and Young Adults content deadline November 1, 2025

The JMIRS invites submissions for a special issue focused on medical imaging and radiation therapy for children and young adults. Topics of interest include dose optimization and radiation safety, communication and patient education, advanced imaging techniques for young patients, AI applications in pediatric imaging, age appropriate techniques, patient and caregiver perspectives, personalized radiation therapy approaches for young patients, specialised support roles, and psychosocial considerations for adolescents and young adults undergoing cancer treatment.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) content deadline May 1, 2026

Our second special issue for 2026 is about Magnetic Resonance Imaging. We welcome submissions in any of our formats exploring advancements and challenges in MRI technology, clinical applications, and patient outcomes. Potential topics include emerging MRI techniques and sequences, artificial intelligence in MRI interpretation, MRI safety considerations, communication and patient education, functional and diffusion-weighted imaging, contrast agent innovations, patient perspectives, and working with specialised populations. We also encourage submissions related to advancements and new professional pathways in all aspects of MRI-guided radiotherapy (MRIgRT).
