CAMRT-ATL Interviewed by CBC about MRI Wait Times

This past week, CAMRT-ATL was interviewed about MRI wait times in New Brunswick by CBC. Jennifer Carey, Manager of CAMRT-ATL was able to talk about the need for increased positions into the system. While there may not be any vacancies, the number of current positions is not sufficient to meet the demand for service. Wait times will only get worse unless more positions are added.

That information was then shared on CBC’s The Shift with Vanessa Vander Valk . Here, Jennifer Carey was able to speak about the toll this is taking on the patents waiting for an MRI, but also the Medical Radiation Technologists working in the system. Knowing the service you provide is a bottleneck to your patients getting treatment, is taxing mentally and emotionally.

As a follow up, CAMRT-ATL was able to expand the conversation, speaking about MRI wait times in the Maritime provinces when being interviewed by  CBC Maritime Noon with Bob Murphy. Healthcare decision makers have to focus on the investment in human resources to tackle the demand for imaging and therapy. New machines are a step where necessary, but they are not the only step.
