Eligibility and Application Process

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply for consideration of the APRT(T) Certification process, candidates must meet ALL of the following requirements:

  • Certification to practice as a radiation therapist in Canada
  • Five (5) years (10,000 hours) of full-time equivalent employment experience in the practice of radiation therapy provided in the form of a CV or resume upon submission
  • Master’s degree, or substantial evidence of equivalence*
  • Current membership with the CAMRT for the duration of the certification process

* Evidence of appropriate educational preparation (deemed equivalent to a Master’s level education) is acceptable.  The assessment of equivalence will be carried out by the CAMRT upon review of eligibility.

Declaration of interest

The first step in the APRT(T) Certification application process is the submission of a Declaration of Interest.  Those considering declaring their interest should thoroughly review the APRT(T) Competency Profile and the APRT(T) Certification Handbook.  Please also review timelines: APRT(T) Calendar 2017-2019 (updated)

Once a potential candidate declares interest, his or her eligibility will be assessed based on the information provided in their Declaration of Interest form and attached documents.  The CAMRT will render a decision within four (4) weeks of the submission of the Declaration of Interest form.

Submit Declaration of Interest

The CAMRT will be accepting all declarations of interest, however, the CAMRT reserves the right to cap numbers of candidates entering into the certification process within each declaration of interest period. Should an individual wish to proceed with the APRT(T) process after reviewing eligibility, he/she is ultimately responsible for his/her own application, and assumes full responsibility in the event of any unsuccessful attempt(s) at certification.
