In 2008, the CAMRT undertook a research project aimed at identifying specific competency areas of the exam that internationally educated medial radiation technologists (IEMRTs) find challenging.

The research addressed the discipline of Radiological Technology only. The research looked at the exam performance of IEMRTs and how it compares with the exam performance of Canadian educated MRTs for each prime competency identified in the national competency profile for the practice of radiological technology.
