Respiratory Gating: An Overview (Quick Self Study)

This quick self-study (QSS) is intended to introduce the learner to respiratory gating and its applications within radiation therapy. This QSS will allow the learner to understand overall general basics of respiratory gating, different imaging acquisition techniques that can be used for motion management, techniques used to limit respiratory motion and how respiratory gated radiation treatment delivery can benefit specific tumours sites. It will discuss how respiratory motion affects treatment planning for different treatment techniques and what type of quality assurance (QA) and verification is needed for specific respiratory gating techniques.

UNDER REVISION

CT Simulation (Quick Self Study)

Computed Tomography plays an integral role in Radiation Therapy Treatment Planning. This supplement provides an in-depth look at the entire process of CT Simulation, how it is used not only to delineate tumour and treatment volumes, but how it can assist in defining organs at risk, tumour motion and tissue densities, all of which assist in treatment planning and treatment accuracy. Also included is a discussion of advanced topics such as 4DCT, image fusion, and artifact reduction techniques and software; including Metal Artifact Reduction. The course will be regularly updated to include advancements in technology; both hardware and software.
This QSS will be transitioned to the online delivery platform.
