RESPIRATORY GATING: This quick self-study (QSS) is intended to introduce the learner to respiratory gating and its applications within radiation therapy. This QSS will allow the learner to understand overall general basics of respiratory gating, different imaging acquisition techniques that can be used for motion management, techniques used to limit respiratory motion and how respiratory gated radiation treatment delivery can benefit specific tumors sites. It will discuss how respiratory motion affects treatment planning for different treatment techniques and what type of quality assurance (QA) and verification is needed for specific respiratory gating techniques.
